A look at Shakur Stevenson’s upcoming bout with Shakur Stevenson on October 23rd in Atlanta.
Keys for Stevenson:
Mombo Combos: At times Stevenson has been able to get away with throwing one punch. That won’t be the case against Herring. He will need to punch in combinations and get out and use the ring to his advantage.
Power shots to the body: In Stevenson’s last fight, a ho-hum win over Nakathilia, he throw more heavy punches. Though the win was considered lackluster despite a knockdown, Stevenson will need to get the respect of Herring by midway through the fight. It doesn’t have to be early in the fight… it’s fine if he establishes it over the first five or six rounds
Patience: Stevenson is itching for a spectacular win against a household name. That’s fine, but again, that’s something that needs to develop over the fight. He can’t try to win 12 rounds in 2 rounds. If he stays patient… throw combos and digs at Herring’s body, he’ll keep is 0.
