Notre Dame announce that men’s basketball assistant coach, Ryan Ayers, is no longer with the program. In the brief statement released, the University said Ayers would be pursuing other opportunities.
Ayers primarily worked with the perimeter players.
Ayers appeared in 117 games, 51 as a starter, when he played Notre Dame. He averaged 6.5 points a game. He also earned a spot on the BIG EAST Academic All-Star Team during his sophomore, junior and senior seasons. In 2009 he was named Notre Dame Best Defensive Player and in 2008 he was Notre Dame’s Most Improved Player Award. He’s currently fourth in three point percentage at 42.4%.
Scott Martin will replace Ayers as interim assistant coach.
