Northeastern 68 Elon 60
Northeastern would lead by as much as 20 points in the first half en route to a 68-60 win over Elon. The Huskies would have to fight off a second half rally by Elon before closing them out late.
Northeastern will face Hofstra in the tournament finals.
Northeastern was led by Jordan Rohland’s 20 points. Rohland would hit back-to-back three-pointers to help fight back a charging Elon team. Bolden Brace would have 16 points and 7 rebounds.
Hunter McIntosh led Elon with 18 points.
Just like Hofstra in the game before, Northeastern used efficient three point shooting to get an early lead. The Huskies finished 13-25 from the three-point line.
Northeasterns’ offense was clicking most of the night but scoreless stretch of 7+ minute enabled Elon to get back into the game. After being down, 16 at halftime, Elon would go on an 11-2 run to cut the lead to 47-37. The Phoenix would continue to make their charge.
Hunter McIntosh’s three-pointer cut the Huskies lead to seven (52-45).
Northeastern’s Tyson Walker would hit a big three-pointer pushing the lead back to 10 points. Elon wouldn’t go away. The Phoenix would close it to seven.
Rohland would hit would ignite a personal 6-0 run with a three-pointer with 2:31. The back to back three’s gave Elon a 13-point lead with 1:33 left.
Elon was scoreless the first 5:57 of the game as Northeastern jumped out to a 9-0 lead. The Huskies would extend their lead to 15-5 on a Tyson Walker three-pointer.
A Seth Fuller (Elon) turnover would lead to a Brace three pointer giving Northeastern a 20-7 lead. Brace would finish the half with 11 points.
Elon would struggle with turnovers throughout the first half, committing 10 in the first 20 minutes.
