This is a hard time of year for boxing to gain footing but last weekend was a winning weekend for the sport.
According to Boxing Scene, the Jermell Charlo-Tony Harrison rematch pulled in 1.415 million viewers on Fox. The hotly contested rematch saw Charlo (33-1) get his title back with an 11th TKO of the champion. With both fighters having won once, it makes sense that there will be a third meeting somewhere down the line. “I got that belt. It took me a while, and got in the 11th and I didn’t leave it up to the judges,” said Charlo.
There were large portions of the fight when Harrison controlled the tempo with his jab. He was also getting the best of Charlo inside. But, Charlo was able to score a knockdown in the second round. He was able to finish off Harrison in the 11th when he knocked the former champion down two more times.
At the time of the stoppage, Charlo was up on two of the three scorecards. Both David Southerland and Lou Moret had Charlo up 96-93. Tim Cheatham has Harrison (28-3) ahead, 95-94.
Making the Cut had Harrison ahead 96-93.

The night before, Danny Jacobs and Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. fought on DAZN. Despite having a troubled career, Chavez Jr’s name sells and that was no different in Phoenix.
The son of legend, Julio Cesar Chavez Sr., got to a solid start. Chavez Jr. looked motivated despite coming into the fight almost five pounds over the agreed weight limit. But, as usual, Chavez Jr. got lazy as the fight went over and he eventually quit on his stool after the 5th round.

Things got ugly after the fight when disappointed fans started throwing objects in the ring. This included a shoe that allegedly belonged to Chavez Jr’s sister.
Eddie Hearn told us (@TheLastRound12) that the shoe pictured below was thrown by Chavez Jr.’s sister following the outcome of the fight last Saturday in Phoenix, AZ..
