Lakers Fire Joey and Jesse Buss
Last season, the biggest shakeup for the Los Angeles Lakers happened on the court. This season’s shakeup is happening off the court.
The Lakers have fired executives Joey and Jesse Buss, along with several members of the scouting staff.
The front office changes shouldn’t shock anyone. It’s time for the Lakers to modernize their processes and move from being run like a Mom-and-Pop, even though Jeannie Buss will continue to serve as Governor.
Reed Sheppard
Sometimes injuries can provide an opportunity, and that’s what is happening in Houston.
When Fred VanVleet was lost for the season, the question was whether Houston would have enough depth at point guard.
Enter Reed Sheppard.
Sheppard wasn’t ready for major minutes in his rookie season, but what a difference a year can make.
He’s simplified his game but is not hesitating to shoot the ball when he’s open. That has produced an amazing run from the three-point line. Sheppard has made 22 of his last 43 three-pointers.
Houston is 6-1 in those games.
No Plans to Blow the Mavs Up
Mark Cuban has the seat at the table he so coveted. To achieve this, he knew he had to convince the Dumonts to fire Nico Harrison.
With Harrison gone and Cuban back in the spotlight, he let the NBA world know that they weren’t blowing it up. Anthony Davis won’t be traded because the Mavericks are still trying to win.
The question for Dallas is whether Cuban is better at rebuilding the Mavericks’ present roster construction than Harrison would have been. Only time will tell.
