3rd and Long: Daboll’s Job Saver; Browns’ Incompetence

Job Saver
In professional sports, it’s rare for a young player, let alone two young players, to save a coach’s job, but here we are.

Jaxson Dart and Cam Skattebo have the New York area excited about what the duo can be, and it’s giving head coach Brian Daboll a lifeline to keep his job.

Dart had touchdowns via the pass and the ground, while Skattebo ran for 98 yards and three touchdowns.

Could you imagine if Dart wasn’t playing well while Daniel Jones is tearing it up in Indianapolis? But, since that’s not the case, Daboll can say Jones was just a bad fit and they got it right with Dart.

Browns Continue to Botch QB Position
Once again, Cleveland’s coaches made a talking point out of Shadeur Sanders for no reason. All week, head coach Kevin Stefanski jockeyed with the media over Sanders. This time, it was whether he would be the second or third quarterback.

The Browns keep manufacturing stories that get Sanders in the headline while they waste one of the best defenses in the NFL.

The staff hasn’t proven it can develop a young quarterback, and it can be argued that instead of drafting Dillan Gabriel in the third round, they should have addressed other needs.

Chiefs Rebound
Kansas City might be 3-3, but it doesn’t feel like it.

The Chiefs have won three of their last four games, including victories over the Baltimore Ravens (with Lamar Jackson) and the Detroit Lions.

Part of the resurgence is getting back injured players, and the other is just Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes being Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes.

The Los Angeles Chargers, who have looked like they are slowing down, and the Denver Broncos, who scapped out an ugly win over the New York Jets yesterday, aren’t world beaters so it’s reasonable to think that Kansas City is still the AFC West favorites.
