Syracuse at Clemson
Line: Clemson -16.5
O/U: 54.5
Talk about a potential wrong place-wrong time match-up for Syracuse. I was what Fran Brown has done with the Orange and Steve Angeli has been a solid portal pick-up at quarterback but Clemson has something to prove.
Dabo Swinney has hit the fans with the “if you’re tired of winning” press conference and I love how the Tigers defense matches up with Syracuse. I am torn between the over or the line.
I’m going with the line. Clemson -16.5
Maryland at Wisconsin
Line: Wisconsin -10.5
O/U: 44.5
Neither team blows me away but Maryland’s 3-0 deserves a second look. All the games have been home and the wins have come against Florida Atlantic, Northern Illinois, and Towson. Woof.
Wisconsin isn’t as bad as the Alabama beatdown and they’re at home.
Don’t you have the feeling this is one of those 24-6, 20-3 games?
Wisconsin -10.5
North Carolina State at Duke
Line: Duke -2.5
O/U: 57.5
The total was where I first looked at the 57.5 is daunting even though both offenses should be able to thrive a bit.
The line is almost unbettable. It’s your standard you can make a strong argument on both sides. Duke’s defense could make just enough plays to win. It might not be the Blue Devils defense making a Steel Curtain-like stand. It could be a bad CJ Bailey pass.
But, back to the line. Instead of milling over who would win and how, I starting thinking about what the final score looks like no matter who wins.
That causes me to break away from what I love (the overs) and go with the under 57.
