The Fighting Irish have managed to lose their first two games to ranked opponents on the final drive of the game.
The time for “what ifs” is all said and done.
Keys:
Chris Ash
It’s time for the Notre Dame defense to get down or lie down. All of the excuses are gone. Ash’s defense could have already cost this team a chance at the playoffs.
Notre Dame knows it needs to win with style points for the rest of the season. That means the defense needs to look dominant on the scoreboard.
If that means head coach Marcus Freeman needs to be more involved in the defensive game plan, then that’s what needs to happen.
Where’s Jaden Greathouse?
How can Greathouse only have two catches in two games? Notre Dame’s passing game needs to start maturing, utilizing all three levels of the passing game effectively.
That means finding ways to get Greathouse the ball in space. That’s the responsibility of the offensive coordinator, Mike Denbrock.
No More Excuses
It took two weeks for Notre Dame to use a season’s worth of excuses for why they, at times, look poorly coached.
Whether it’s been miscommunications on defense or a missed assignment on offense, this has been the most undisciplined-looking team under Marcus Freeman.
Notre Dame needs to ask more from its coaches because the 0-2 start is just as much on them as the players.
