It’s never a good combination when the offense is stagnant and can’t protect, the defense gives up several big plays, and the field goal kicker misses two field goals.
Washington suffered breakdowns in all three areas in the 27-18 loss at Green Bay.
Offensive Line
It wasn’t the best night for the hogs up front.
The Commanders only ran for 51 yards. The Packers’ front four dominated the game, allowing the secondary to play zone to prevent Jayden Daniels from becoming a force in the running game.
Micah Parsons was a pain in Washington’s rear all night. It seemed like Parsons was in Daniels’ face all night. As a team, Green Bay finished with 12 Quarterback Pressures.
The number of hits Daniels took was unacceptable.
“Krafty” Work
It’s fair to ask why tight end Tucker Kraft was open the entire night. Kraft finished with six receptions for 124 yards. It would be different if Kraft had to make difficult catches, but that wasn’t the case. On the majority of his catches, there wasn’t anyone around him.
Washington’s inability to get pressure on Jordan Love played a part.
McLaurin/Daniels Rhythm
Realistically, it will take at least a couple more weeks for Terry McLaurin to be in better shape, but it needs to happen quickly.
For the second week in the row, the passing game looked pedestrian. After having two receptions on four targets last week, McLaurin was targeted nine times and finished with five receptions for 48 yards.
