The Hoyas continued their winning ways on the scoreboard, but on the sidelines, it didn’t feel like it.
Georgetown’s 82-65 win over St. Francis was another game that the Hoyas decided to make more difficult than it should have been.
Micah Peavy led Georgetown with 24 points. Jayden Epps chipped in with 23 points.
Early on against St. Francis, Georgetown had it cooking.
The ball movement was crisp, and the offense looked like a well-oiled machine. The Hoyas were up 19-4 and looked to be taking care of business until they weren’t.
With the score 26-15 Georgetown, Thomas Sorber picked up his second foul, and the wheels came off.
St Francis would go on a 19-7 run to take a 34-33 lead with 1:50 left in the half.
Georgetown would take a 37-36 lead at halftime.
The second half started like the first half. The Hoyas’ ball movement produced back-to-back baskets by Sorber and a three-pointer by Epps as Georgetown pushed the lead back to eight in a little over a minute. Peavy’s pullup jumper with 13:47 left pushed the lead to nine, but St. Francis responded with a 10-0 run. During the run, Sorber got hurt. He would later return.
The Hoyas used a 6-0 run to take a 62-57 lead. The run eventually grew to 15-1. Georgetown led 71-58 with 2:39 left.
