Florida State (0-2) is still looking for their first win. No one thought that would be said going into the Memphis (2-0) game. The Noles will face an undefeated Tigers team that hasn’t played strong competition. Will DJ Uiagalelei look like a Power Conference quarterback?

Disney couldn’t have scripted Bill O’Brien’s start in Chestnut Hill better. Boston College is 2-0 with a win over Florida State. Boston College (ranked 24th) handled the big win over the Noles much better than Notre Dame handled theirs over Texas A&M. Up next for O’Brien’s crew is Missouri. The Tigers are ranked 6th in the country and haven’t given up a point this season.

Pitt (2-0) heads into the Backyard Brawl after an exciting win over Cincinnati, while West Virginia is coming off a dominating loss to Penn State. Panthers freshman quarterback Eli Holstein is off to a hot start. Holstein has started his career 50-75 with six touchdowns and two interceptions, but this will be his first Backyard Brawl.

Virginia Tech is still trying to recover from the Vanderbilt loss. Last week, the Hokies (1-1) had a ho-hum 31-14 win over Marshall. Up next for Virginia Tech is an 0-2 ODU team with two wins (2018 and 2022) over the Hokies. The Monarchs could be without starting quarterback, Grant Wilson. Last week, the Hokies leaned on Bhayshul Tuten in the running game. Tuten had 120 yards on 22 carries.

Fifth-ranked Ole Miss will face Wake Forest at Tobacco Road on Saturday. The Demon Deacons (1-1) are coming off a late-game loss to Virginia. Wake’s number one goal should be to keep Rebels’ quarterback Jaxson Hart off the field. The most effective way to do this is by committing to running the ball with Demond Claiborne. If Claiborne can successfully run the ball, that will open up the field for wide receiver Donavan Greene. It still might not be enough to keep up Ole Miss’ offense.

The Cavaliers are off to a 2-0 start under Tony Elliott, as an old ACC foe is coming to town. The Maryland Terps are coming off an overtime loss to Michigan State but will bring a dangerous offense. As always, Virginia’s offense will depend on Anthony Colandrea’s decision-making. Colandrea loves to try making plays like a poor man’s Josh Allen, but it hasn’t always resulted in what the Cavaliers have needed.

Other Games:
Louisiana Tech at NC State
Ball State at (10) Miami
VMI at Georgia Tech
UConn at Duke
NC Central at North Carolina
San Diego State at Cal
