When fans head out to Landover, Maryland, to see the Washington Commanders play, they’ll no longer be heading to Commanders Field.
The Commanders organization has reached a multi-year agreement with Northwest Federal Credit Union (NWFCU) to rename Commanders Field to Northwest Stadium.
“As we continue to work toward our goal of building the Commanders into an elite franchise that consistently competes for championships, we are excited to welcome our team and fans to Northwest Stadium and look forward to creating incredible memories together on the field and in the communities we serve,” said Josh Harris.
The eight-year deal’s timing is interesting as the new ownership group headed by Harris is looking for a new stadium in Maryland, Virginia, or Washington, D.C.
