Buchner is Back

Tyler Buchner’s Notre Dame football journey continues, even if it has been an unconventional path.

Buchner was once Notre Dame’s quarterback solution. But after an uneven freshman year, head coach Marcus Freeman opted to fill the starting quarterback position via the portal when Wake Forest’s Sam Hartman stepped on campus.

Buchner would move on to Alabama with former Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees. It was a short marriage with Alabama before Buchner returned to Notre Dame to play lacrosse.

Now, Buchner and Notre Dame football will be back together. Buchner will return to the football program as a walk-on wide receiver.

Buchner isn’t the only Notre Dame lacrosse player playing wide receiver as a walk-on. Jordan Faison played wide receiver for the Irish last season as a walk-on.
