Tis the season for NFL teams to be less than truthful about the draft intentions.
ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported that the Commanders have been getting trade calls about the number two pick in the draft.
Most draft experts expect Washington to select Jayden Daniels (LSU) or Drake Maye (UNC), but that could all change with the right offer.
The “right offer” would have to be a haul that Washington’s new front office could not refuse.
Other than that, the new ownership would need to keep the second pick and, more importantly, get it right.
The Commanders have spent the offseason signing veterans, including veteran quarterback Marcus Mariota.
All signs point to having a veteran team with veteran playmakers to surround a rookie quarterback. It’s something Washington’s fan base would love to see.
But who knows what to believe this time of year?
As the NFL Draft approaches, the season of lying is upon us.
