Instant Reaction: Providence-Georgetown

1st Half

Providence got off to a hot start and opened up a double-digit lead in the first half. The Friars were led by Bullock’s 14 points and Cartwright’s 10 points and 7 rebounds. Providence shot 50% from the floor (14-28) including 5-11 from the 3-point line.

The Hoyas struggled mightily on offense. Shooting a disappointing 32.1% and turning the ball over 7 times. Rodney Pryor provided early offense scoring 6 early points but he cooled off. As usual, that’s when LJ Peak stepped up and scored 10 points.

Georgetown had cut a 13 -lead to 4 before Providence closed the half on a 14-3 run.

2nd Half

Things didn’t get any better for the Hoyas in the second half as the Friars pushed the lead to 21 points. Cartwright continued to do everything including taking a charge with a 21 point lead. He finished one rebound short of a triple double. The Friars shot 44 percent in the second half and 40% 3 point arc.

The Hoyas continued their woeful shooting in the second half at a 33.3% clip. Derrickson and Pryor had 6 a piece in the second half. Georgetown turned the ball over 8 times in the second half.
