Commanders Keys: Green Bay Packers

Washington (1-0) looks to move to 2-0 when they face the Green Bay Packers on a short week. The Packers (1-0) punished the Detroit Lions in week one.

On Time, On Target:
Jayden Daniels was a little behind his receivers early on against the Giants. The Packers are going to score points, so Washington will need to do the same so the big plays we saw last season will need to return on Thursday night.

Green Bay did a good job taking away big plays from the Detroit Lions.

Terry McLaurin isn’t in the type of game shape that we saw last season. At least not yet. Can they get enough YAC from Deebo? Get some from Noah Brown? We will see.

Pass Rush Pressure/Containment:
Washington’s pass run has to be present but also disciplined. If you break contain, Jordan Love will get outside of the tackle box with the intention of getting a big play deep. Of course, you want to get push in the middle because that makes any quarterback uncomfortable but you also want to keep him boxed in.

Turnovers:
Washington’s defense didn’t force any turnovers against the Giants. There isn’t much to make of that because the Giants’ game plan was rather conservative.

That won’t be the case when this defense faces the Packers.

Love is know to take chances and when he does Washington needs to take advantage and give the offense a short field.
