George Mason takes a step toward today’s college athletics environment.
Janard Estell was named the university’s first Director of Player Management & NIL.
Estell will guide GMU’s NIL and entrepreneurship strategy, with a primary focus on supporting men’s and women’s basketball student-athletes. That includes education, group licensing, and NIL strategy for all Mason student-athletes.
Before George Mason, Estell served as an assistant men’s basketball coach at Chipola College. He also helped secure financial sponsorships, organizing fundraising events, and fostering community partnerships to support the team’s operational needs.
Estell will transition from his current position as Associate Director of Development, Major Gifts for the Patriot Club.
