Georgetown Baseball: Hoyas Avoid Sweep

After losing two one-run games to UMBC, Georgetown responds with a 12-2 win over seven innings.

UMBC won Friday night’s game in the bottom of the ninth and Saturday’s in the top of the 10th.

Sunday was a different story.

Ashtin Gilio went 2-for-4 with a run scored, and Jeremy Sheffield went 2-for-2 with two runs scored. Sheffield also had an RBI and a home run.

“I thought in those back-to-back solo home runs from Jeremy Sheffield and Owen Carapellotti were great. It was awesome to see Jeremy get his first career home run and Owen doing what he’s done his whole career was great to see.” – Head Coach Edwin Thompson

The Hoyas lost the first two games of the series 8-7 and 4-3 (10 innings).

Notes:

  • Derek Yoo went a season-high three innings in his second win.
  • 10 Hoyas collected hits
  • Dylan Larkins recorded his fifth multi-RBI game
