Hoyas Drop Back-to-Back to Sacred Heart

On Sunday, the Hoyas fell to Sacred Heart 6-3.

Sacred Heart scored two runs in the first inning, but Georgetown responded with a run in the second before taking a 3-2 lead in the sixth on an Owen Carapellotti two-run homer.

“We didn’t get enough hits when we needed to, but it was still good to see Owen Carapellotti get that big home run and Jeremy Sheffield had another good day. We will learn, grow and continue to get better, and we are looking forward to getting back at it on Tuesday at George Washington.” – Head Coach Edwin Thompson.

The Pioneers took the lead back, 5-3, on a three-run homer by Peter Link in the seventh inning.

Link would drive in an insurance run in the ninth.

Georgetown’s three-game winning streak broke on Saturday in a 21-4 loss to Sacred Heart.

“Tough day but credit to Sacred Heart. Their guys were outstanding and their pitcher was excellent today. They had a great adjustment on day two and that is what a championship team looks like.” Head Coach Edwin Thompson

After the Hoyas jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first inning, they would give up 12 unanswered runs before getting a run in the seventh.

The Pioneers responded by getting five in the eighth and four in the ninth.
