Year two of the Ed Cooley era officially started in front of a raucous crowd last night.
Let me get this out of the way: It would be great if Georgetown played more of these types of games at McDonough Arena. Yes, I understand the reasons why it isn’t done more, but letting the players and students have this experience feels more like college basketball than games at Capital One Arena.
Ok. I’ve gotten that out of the way, so let’s get to the game.
The Hoyas walked away with an 85-77 win over Lehigh. There was a lot of good and bad (more on that later), but what you saw is that the offense has more flexibility than last season, and the defense is still a work in progress.
Freshman Thomas Sorber gave everyone a sneak peek of what the Georgetown staff knew he could be. Sorber’s 20 points and 13 rebounds performance jumped off the page, while Micah Peavy’s veteran presence and maturity are something this program hasn’t had in a few years.
This season, we will debut our Green Light-Yellow Light-Red Light segment, where we discuss some of the things from the game and/or the season.
