ACC Basketball Notebook: Duke and North Carolina debut Freshmen

College basketball fans nationwide have been waiting for the debut of Duke’s Cooper Flagg, and it’s finally here.

The Blue Devils face Maine tonight and Army on Friday.

Flagg has been considered the best college player with the most NBA potential for at least two years.

Cooper isn’t the only freshman in Durham getting headlines. Isaiah Evans, Kon Knueppel, Khaman Maluach, and Darren Harris will all have spotlights on them.

Over in Chapel Hill, the lights might be less bright for freshmen, but Ian Jackson and Drake Powell will undoubtedly be rotation players for Hubert Davis and the Tar Heels.

Jackson and Powell will play smaller roles than Flagg because of the veterans. RJ Davis, Seth Trimble, Cade Tyson, and Jae’Lyn Withers all have major roles on the perimeter.

North Carolina has Elon tonight and number-one-ranked Kansas on Friday.
