Commanders: What did Schefter say?

I had to ensure it didn’t come from a spoof account because I couldn’t believe what I saw.

Let me check again. Yes, it says what I thought it said.

Adam Schefter tweeted, “Players want to wind up in Washington playing for the Commanders.” (Full Article)

What in the name of Joe Gibbs is going on?

It took a change in ownership (Harris Ownership Group), organizational structure (Adam Peters), coaching staff (Dan Quinn), and quarterback (Jayden Daniels) to turn Washington from a cesspool to a destination—all in less than a year.

For those outside the nation’s capital and its suburbs (known as the DMV), it’s strange for one of the franchises to be a destination nonetheless, the Commanders.

I promised to stop referencing the Daniel Snyder era because the fan base wants to move on from that time, but it’s hard not to say the obvious. It was always easy for the organization to become a destination; it was Snyder’s incredible incompetence and being an overall dirt bag that had cheated a fan base that would do anything to support the Commanders’ organization.

Washington can go 7-2 when they face the New York Giants on Sunday. In the past, the fan base would insist that something terrible would happen, and it would kick off an elongated losing streak. Heck, the DMV would spend the week telling anyone who would listen that Daniel Jones is 5-1-1 against Washington.

Instead, you feel the confidence creeping into the area despite it looking like the Philadelphia Eagles are finally waking up. The Commanders winning the NFC East isn’t out of the question.

For those my age, I won’t say it feels like the 1980s glory years, but it is getting close, and it’s getting close at the right time as the Harris ownership group looks for a stadium deal.

Though I’m not a Commanders fan, the DMV can be electric when this franchise wins.

It makes the DMV a destination. Just ask the players.
