When a good team with aspirations plays a bad team with a mediocre quarterback, the game is supposed to reflect the two teams’ current state.
The Washington Commanders did all that and some in their 34-13 win over Cleveland. The Commanders improve to 4-1, with Baltimore waiting for them next week.
Jayden Daniels didn’t have an unbelievably efficient day today, but his impact on the game was felt. Daniels ended the day 14-25 for 238 yards, a touchdown, and an interception. After the uncharismatic red zone interception, Daniels floated a beautiful pass down the sideline for a 41-yard touchdown pass to Dyami Brown. Daniels also finished with 82 yards rushing on 11 carries.
As a team, Washington rushed for 211 yards.
Terry McLaurin continues his resurgence with four receptions for 112 yards.
The Browns (1-4) offense has been stuck in neutral all season, and today was no different.
The Commanders held Deshaun Watson to 125 yards passing and one touchdown. The touchdown came after the game had been all but decided. Watson was sacked seven times and had a fumble.
The Browns failed to extend drives, going 1-13 on third-down conversions.
The Commanders’ next game is in Baltimore. The Ravens are coming off a 41-38 come-from-behind overtime win over Cincinnati.
