Tampa Bay at Detroit (Best Bet)

Line: Detroit -7.5

Total: 51.5

For those who predicted Baker Mayfield would take a step back this season, week one was a throwaway. Mayfield and Tampa Bay faced a rebuilding Washington Commanders team with a long way to go before you saw signs of success. In particular, the wide receiving core feasted. Chris Godwin had eight receptions, Rachaad White had six, and Mike Evans had five receptions, along with two touchdowns.

The Buccaneers’ challenge will be much different this week when they face Detroit. The Lions knocked off the LA Rams on Sunday night, 26-20. Detroit’s run defense held Kyren Williams to 50 yards on 18 carries. The Rams relied heavily on the passing game, particularly Cooper Kupp, who finished with 14 receptions.

Detroit’s defense is why I looked at the Buccaneers receivers in the Props market.

Pick: Mike Evans Any Time Touchdown (+115)

NY Jets at Tennessee

Line: NY Jets -3.5

Total: 40.5

The New York Jets defense didn’t invoke memories of the New York Sack Exchange in their 32-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers.

Help is on the way. No, as of this publication, Haason Reddick hasn’t solved his contract issues with the Jets, but there’s something almost as good on the horizon: Will Levis.

The Tennessee Titans defense did more than enough to beat the Chicago Bears last week but enter Levis and his decision-making, which led to two interceptions, including a comical underhanded pass that resulted in a pick-six.

For the Jets, if you genuinely believe in Aaron Rodgers, this will be the perfect bounce-back spot.

Pick: NY Jets -3.5 (-110)
