The NBA Trade Season began relatively early this season. The Boston Celtics were still celebrating their title, while the Chicago Bulls and Oklahoma City Thunder were getting a head start on the next season.
Trade:
Oklahoma City Acquires Alex Caruso
Chicago Acquires Josh Giddey
Oklahoma City: A-
Despite needing a big man and additional offense, the Thunder sure up their defense. Last season, Caruso was second-team All-Defense, so he’ll fit in perfectly on a team that loves to defend. Putting Caruso alongside Luguentz Dort will give plenty of perimeter players a headache.
Chicago: D
The Chicago Bulls needed to get younger, and they did that when they acquired Giddey. That’s it. There’s cynicism around pairing Giddey with Coby White. How effective will that backcourt be? When you couple that with the fact that the Bulls didn’t get a first-round pick from a team that has too many, then this trade has the potential to be a massive failure.
