Boxing Needs For Fury-Usyk to Deliver

Boxing could use a classic fight.

Devin Haney-Ryan Garcia is steeped in controversy over a failed PED test.

Canelo Alvarez-Jaime Munguia was what we thought. A resume filler for Canelo.

Vitaly Lomachenko went down under and laid a beat down onGeorge Kambosos Jr.

None of the fights were bad but they weren’t classics either.

Tyson Fury and Oleksandr Usyk hasn’t captured the media the way one would think when two of the best heavyweights in the world are squaring off.

Boxing doesn’t need an American participant. That’s an outdated take.

Fans are used to watching fights being broadcasted from Saudi Arabia so that’s not an excuse.

Mike Tyson and Jake Paul has gotten more play.

The only way to make up for all of this is for the fight to be an instant classic and it has that potential.

Fury is a technically superior boxer who is willing to be a fighter. It’s what makes his fights so entertaining.

It’s similar to what we saw out of Sugar Ray Leonard and Tommy Hearns. Guys who could make the fight easier by staying outside out of trouble.

Usyk showed in both of his fights with Anthony Joshua that fighting a bigger boxer doesn’t effect him.

Usyk can close distance and outwork his opponent inside with enough power to do damage.

That’s what makes this a Fight of the Year candidate.

Both fighters are willing to take the harder path to victory for the sake of entertainment.

Boxing fans should be thankful.
