Virginia Pulls Out Win in Overtime

 

No matter the Bracketologist, Virginia came into tonight’s game with Boston College as one of the last teams in.

Virginia punched its ticket with a 66-60 overtime win over Boston College.

Boston College jumped out to an early 18-8 lead behind Claudell Harris’ nine early points.

Virginia responded with a 7-0 run after the under-12 media timeout. That would grow to a 15-4 run, giving the Cavaliers a 23-22 lead.

Later in the half, a 6-0 Boston College run pushed the Golden Eagles lead to seven.

Boston College led 35-29 at the half.

Virginia’s Taine Murray tied the game at 37 early in the second half with a three-pointer.

The Golden Eagles would push the lead back to five on a Devin McGlockton layup.

Virginia would take a 47-46 lead on Andrew Rohde’s midrange jump shot.

Quinten Post would go on a personal five-point run that gave Boston College a 51-47 lead.

With the game tied, Jordan Minor had a chance to put Virginia up with a minute left but failed to make either free throw.

After a Jaeden Zackery missed shot, Jacob Groves made two free throws, putting Virginia up 57-55 with 29.2 seconds left.

On Boston College’s final possession of regulation, Mason Madsen would hit the game-tying two with no time left, sending the game to overtime.

Isaac McNeely opened overtime with a three-pointer.

After both teams struggled offensively, Reece Beekman hit a three, giving Virginia a 63-57 lead.

Boston College’s Claudell Harris would make a three but Virginia responded on the next possession with a layup by Minor.
