CAA Tournament: W&M advances; Hampton Wins Close One

William & Mary 79  North Carolina A&T 62

The Tribe lost the first meeting but today was a new day.

In the meeting earlier this season, William & Mary shot 2-22 from the three-point line. Today, it looked much different as the Tribe was 11-33 from long distance.

Four William & Mary players scored in double-digits led by Chase Lowe’s 18 points. Lowe also pulled down 16 rebounds.

Trey Moss and Gabe Dorsey also had 18 points. Matteus Case had 11 points.

A&T was led by Landon Glasper’s 21 points and Nikolaos Chitkoudis’ 16 points and 10 rebounds.

Elon 55  Hampton 56

Hampton came into today’s game with Elon looking to get its first Coastal Athletic Association tournament (CAA) win.

The Pirates will be able to check off that box with a thrilling 56-55 win over Elon.

Elon started the game 0-9 from the floor.

The Pirates defense held Elon to 25% shooting in the first half.

Elon scored the last 5 points of the half cutting Hampton’s lead to 9. This was after Hampton had their biggest lead of the game at 14.

On offense, Hampton rode Jerry Deng’s nine points in the first 20 minutes as Hampton would have a 34-25 lead at the half.

In the second half, Hampton’s offense sputtered and Elon was in the bonus early.

The Pirates would shoot XX% in the second half

The Phoenix used a 13-2 run to take its first lead with 4:16 left.

Hampton would take the lead back on a Deng three-pointer.

But on a night where Elon would struggle with three-point shot, TK Simpkins would hit the go-ahead three with 25 seconds left.

Hampton’s Kyrese Mullen would give the Pirates the lead back with a layup with 6.3 seconds left.
