Pascal Siakam probably won’t finish the season with the Toronto Raptors.
If he does, the Raptors will have failed once again.
The biggest impediment is Siakam’s contract.
It’s hard to imagine that someone as good as Siakam was allowed to get to a point where he’s playing on an expiring deal.
That means Toronto will not get full value for their most valuable asset. The situation has some similarities to the Bradley Beal situation in Washington, even though, Toronto will get more than what Washington got for Beal.
The risk for the team acquiring Siakam is he could be a rental so how much does a team want to give up?
Look at the Sacramento Kings rumors. It was reported that Siakam wouldn’t re-sign with the Kings so why would Sacramento make a trade for him especially when one report had Toronto asking for Keegan Murray. News Flash. Whether Siakam was on an expiring or not, there’s no way the Kings were sending Murray to Toronto.
Toronto did pull off a deal that involved O.G. Anunoby and his expiring contract.
The Raptors were able to send Anunoby to New York for RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley but that deal happened because the Knicks’ brass are pretty confident in signing Anunoby to an extension.
