Takeaways

  • No Control – The Terps played the type of game UAB wanted. There was never a flow, and Maryland’s offense was ineffective in stretches against UAB’s zone defense. The Blazers needed this game to resemble a pace and a level of inefficiency, and they got just that.
  • Cashing TOs – Maryland had 15 turnovers, and UAB feasted off them. The Blazers scored 22 points of the Terps’ turnovers compared to Maryland only got 12 points off UAB’s turnovers.
  • JuJu’s Importance – Julian Reese’s importance to Maryland was fully displayed today. It’s hard to imagine the Terps getting a significant win without him. Reese spent much of the day in foul trouble. He would eventually foul out with 5 points in 28 minutes.
