Washington Commanders headed to Atlanta trying to get themselves back together after a three-game losing streak.
Mission accomplished.
Washington came away with a 24-16 win at Atlanta.
It wasn’t the cleanest win but it will do.
If Washington wants to keep their hopes alive for the playoffs, a win in New York is borderline must-win.
The Giants were a bad call away from a chance to beat the Buffalo Bills on the road.
One can argue that New York is better with Tyrod Taylor than Daniel Jones despite Jones’ success against the Commanders.
KEYS:
Keep Howell Upright: Howell has been sacked 29 times in five games. Some of that is on the line. Some of it is on Howell. Some of it is on Eric Bieniemy’s playcalling. I put more of the weight on Bieniemy because he needs to stay creative in his playcalling to help out Howell.
Patience in Running Game: The Commanders didn’t run the ball efficiently last week but they stayed with the run. That thought process must continue this week. Even if Washington doesn’t have success on the ground early, they must stay with it.
Limit Big Plays: The Giants offense hasn’t been churning out big plays and that can’t start on Sunday. Washington’s defense probably won’t duplicate the turnovers it forced in Atlanta but they don’t need to. They just have to make the simple plays.
