Commanders: This Josh is a Handful

In week one, the Washington Commanders faced Josh Dobbs.

No offense to Dobbs because every sane person knows how hard it is to play quarterback in the NFL but no one is going to confuse Dobbs with Dan Marino.

This week, the Commanders (2-0) will be facing another Josh… a much better one.

Josh Allen.

The Buffalo Bills head to Washington on Sunday not knowing what the field conditions are going to be because of the chance of severe weather on Saturday.

But you best believe that Washington’s defense won’t confuse the two Josh’s.

Allen’s ability to make big plays can occasionally get him in trouble but it’s worth the tradeoff with what he gives that offense.

It will be a good test for Washington’s defense especially upfront.

“This week will be a big test for our offensive linemen,” Buffalo Bills’ head coach Sean McDermott said Monday. “They’ve got a very talented – bunch of high draft picks along their defensive front there.”

Chase Young, Daron Payne, and Jonathan Allen were all high draft picks that, when healthy, can deliver. But discipline will be the key to their success.

Get out of your lanes, Allen will hurt you. Get pushed past the quarterback, and Allen will hurt you.

Allen hurts you in the way John Elway did throughout his career. A big strong quarterback with mobility and absolutely, positively no fear.

Dobbs and Russell Wilson don’t prepare you for Sunday but if there’s one thing, Allen could give the Commanders, it’s the ball.

Allen will turn it over.

It was hard to see that last week but the Las Vegas Raiders defense is so bad that Allen could’ve made a claim for a yellow jacket.

This Sunday will be a measuring stick for the Washington defense because this Allen won’t be joshing around.
