Georgetown announces its out-of-conference schedule.
Most Georgetown fans hope the new head coach, Ed Cooley, will eventually have a schedule that includes more teams from power conferences.
It’s a lot to ask Cooley to accomplish this in year one, but at least the schedule has four opponents from power conferences.
at Rutgers (Big Ten) November 15th
vs TCU (Big XII) December 2nd
vs Syracuse (ACC) December 9th
at Notre Dame (ACC) December 16th
Two of the four games are part of conference challenges (Rutgers and TCU).
Syracuse and Notre Dame also spent time in the Big East.
The remaining out-of-conference games resemble a Thompson II/Ewing scheduling special.
vs Le Moyne November 7
vs Holy Cross November 11
vs Mount St. Mary’s November 18
vs American November 19
vs Jackson State November 25
vs Merrimack November 29
vs Coppin State December 12
In a perfect world, Cooley would split the four games against power conference opponents while sweeping the seven other games.
In the future, it would be good for the program to be in a position to play six opponents from power conferences or play in one of the ESPN-created tournaments.
