Rory McIlroy hasn’t won a major since 2014.
McIlroy will enter Sunday with a chance to win his first major in nine years.
In 2014, McIlroy won both the PGA Championship and The Open.
Coming into today’s final round, McIlroy is one stroke behind leaders, Rickie Fowler and Wyndham Clark.
Perhaps, the most dangerous golfer coming into today is Scottie Scheffler.
Scheffler finished 17 and 18 with a two and a three moving him to -7, three shots off the lead.
McIlroy will be able to keep a close eye on Scheffler today since they are paired together right in front of the Clark/Fowler pairing.
With McIlroy’s pedigree, he should have no question that he can track down both Fowler and Clark.
For this to be successful, McIlroy will have to take advantage of the first ten holes.
All week the front nine, and the 10th hole, have been very gettable. If McIlroy takes advantage of those holes, he can put incredible pressure on the leaders over the final eight holes.
That’s when McIlroy needs to channel his younger self and believe that he can close out.
