Katie Taylor had Chantelle Cameron where she wanted her…in her back yard.
What we saw Saturday night was what makes boxing great… perceived advantages don’t always go as planned.
For Taylor (22-1, 6 KO), that meant taking the first loss of her career despite having the home crowd.
Taylor loss to Cameron (18-0, 8 KO) by majority decision, 96-94, 96-94, 95-95.
Immediately after the fight, Taylor said she wanted a rematch but now she’s at the mercy of what Cameron wants.
If Cameron moves up in weight, Taylor could be robbed of avenging the loss.
Taylor could give Amanda Serrano a rematch. The first fight was full of exciting action and could set up a potential trilogy between the two.
If Cameron decides to try and make a fight against Alycia Baumgardner or Mikela Mayer, then Taylor could face whichever one Cameron doesn’t fight.
Either way, Taylor has another big time fight available whether she fights Cameron or not.
