Last week, Bucknell announced the firing of head coach Nathan Davis.
Davis was coming off a rough four-year stretch.
During that time period, the Bison were 40-70.
That’s an incredible drop from Davis’ first four season there when they won the regular season championship each season.
Davis finished with a 129-115 record in his eight seasons at Bucknell.
Who is next?
Why not Dave Paulsen?
Currently, Paulsen is an assistant coach Fordham after he was let go by George Mason.
Prior to his stint at Mason, Paulsen spent seven seasons as the head coach of Bucknell.
During that time period, he won four conference titles and appeared in two NCAA tournaments.
His overall record at Bucknell was 134-94.
The marriage seems almost Hollywood like.
Paulsen’s success at Bucknell is recent enough for it to be a selling point to recruits. He also has a proven track record of winning in the Patriot League.
Furthermore, it’s a fair question to ask if there’s another realistic opportunity for Paulsen to go back to being a head coach.
It makes too much sense for all parties involved for this not to happen.
