Georgetown University women’s team closed their non-conference schedule with a dominant 69-44 win over North Texas.
Kelsey Ransom led the Hoyas with 20 points and tied a single game record with 10 steals.
“I’ve always relied on heavily my defense,” said Ransom. “It’s always been part of my identity.”
Two-time Big Freshman of the Week, Kennedy Fauntleroy was right behind Ransom with 13.
Fauntleroy provided a spark coming off the bench. “She been a kid that’s been built for this,” said Howard.
The Hoyas (8-4, 1-2) got off to a slow start defensively as the Mean Green took an early seven-point lead. Georgetown responded with a 7-0 run to end the quarter with the game tied at 19.
“In the second quarter, I challenged them,” said head coach James Howard. “We need to shut them down.”
From then on, the Hoyas dominated on both ends of the floor.
The Mean Green only scored a combined 25 points in the last three quarters as Georgetown’s offense complimented their stifling defense.
