Washington clamped down on Towns

Washington was looking to break a three-game losing streak and they did just that in a big way.

The Wizards dominated Minnesota from beginning to end in their 142-127 win over the Timberwolves.

Washington was led by Kristaps Porzingis’ 41 point performance. Kyle Kuzma had 23 points and 9 rebounds.

Minnesota was led by Anthony Edwards’ 29 points

The Timberwolves were on the backend of a back-to-back having come off a loss to the Golden State Warrior but to be fair, Washington was in the same situation.

Before Karl Anthony Towns went out of Monday night’s game against the Washington Wizards, the big man was largely a non-factor.

When Towns left in the third quarter, he was 2-6 from the field and 4-6 from the free throw line with 2 rebounds and 3 assists.

The good defense on Towns was largely a product of Kyle Kuzma. Very seldom, if at all, did guarding Towns require a double-team when Kuzma was on him. Even when Deni Avdija ended up on Towns in switching situations, Towns seemed more comfortable passing than looking to create.

The only time Towns got aggressive when Bradley Beal switched on him a couple of times.

But for most of the night, when Towns decided to be aggressive, he put his head down and tried to simply bull himself into the lane.

Needless to say, that was largely ineffective.

Even when it looked like it was going to be a priority for Towns to get the ball at the beginning of the third quarter, Washington was there. Yes, Towns opened the quarter with a three-point play opportunity but, after that, he was largely ineffective until he got injured.
