Notre Dame is coming off their second disappointing home loss of the season. Last week, the Irish lost to Stanford 16-14. The loss dropped Notre Dame to 3-3. At this point of the season, the Irish fan base has to be looking at the schedule to see if they’ll be bowl eligible.
Notre Dame lost the turnover column, 2-0 last week. This team doesn’t have the wiggle room to give away possessions.
On paper, the perfect opponent coming off a loss would be UNLV. The Irish are 26.5 points favorites which seems rather high for a team and that been very uneven.
The Running Rebels come to South Bend on a two game losing streak. In losses to San Jose State and Air Force, they gave up 40+ points and scored just 7 in each game.
I’m not exaggerating when I say a loss here could conjure up loud whispers about whether the Marcus Freeman hire was a bad one.
The game won’t be on NBC this week… it will be on Peacock.
