Devin Haney defeated George Kambosos in a fight that’s an example of why I hate rematches. Haney won by unanimous decision 118-110, 119-109 and 118-110. We can only hope that we get Haney-Lomachenko sometime in 2023.
Wilder makes successful return
Deontay Wilder showed that he still has the lethal right hand. That was on display when he knocked out Robert Helenius in the first round. Wilder was patient, moving around using the ring and his jab.
Against the better opponent, Wilder will need to improve on using useful movement and doubling up on his jab. He also needs to do it for longer periods of time. Wilder can no longer mail away rounds knowing that he is going to knockout a world-class heavyweight.
Shields avenges loss
Claressa Shields avenged the only loss of her career with a win over Savannah Marshall and Makaela Mayer was upset by Alycia Baumgardner.
