GGG-Canelo 3 wrap up

We finally got the third installment of Canelo Alvarez and Gennadiy Golovkin and it played out the way most thought it would.

Alvarez looked motivated at a very comfortable 168 lbs and GGG looked old.

Golovkin spent most of the night not throwing enough punches while standing in front of Alvarez and eating everything he threw. The fight was reminiscent of Sugar Ray Leonard’s third fight with Roberto Duran.

The scorecards were very generous to GGG. The only rounds you could realistically scored for Golovkin were 9-12 yet the cards were 116-112, 115-113, 115-113, all for Alvarez. MTC Media scored the fight 117-111 Alvarez.

Alvarez has already indicated that he will take some time off before demanding a rematch with Dmitry Bivol. GGG will be moving back to 160.

Thankfully, this looks like the third and final installment of a rivalry that never quite lived up to its billing.
