It wasn’t a secret that Jose Pedraza and Richard Commey were desperate for wins and they fought like it.
The middleweight clash ended in a draw.
David Sutherland scored the fight 96-94 for Commey, 95-95. Henry Gueary gave Pedraza the nod, 97-93 while Gary Ritter saw it as a 95-95 draw. MTC Media scored the fight 95-95.
Pedraza had most of his success when he went to Commey’s body.
“Even though my eye was inflamed, we understood that it was done because he has a good right hand,” said Pedraza (29-4-1, 14 KOs). “The entire night, the whole point was to neutralize that right hand. Despite the fact that it was inflamed, I was able to do that.”
Commey (30-4-1, 27 KOs) seemed to be impacted by a cut under his eye on a head butt in the 6th round but was still able to land some left hooks especially early on.
Commey said, “It is a draw. Obviously, I have to go back home and see my people. I love my people, and I gotta go back there, do what I gotta do.”
Earlier in the night, Jared “The Real Big Baby” Anderson made it 12 knockouts in 12 fights by knocking out Serbian veteran Miljan Rovcanin (24-3, 16 KOs).
U.S. Olympic silver medalist Richard Torrez Jr. (3-0, 3 KOs) knocked out Marco Antonio Canedo (4-3, 2 KOs) in just 44 seconds.
