Pedraza and Commey fight to get their career back on track

When Jose Pedraza and Richard Commey enter the ring on Saturday both fighters will be looking to rescue their career.

Both fighters are coming off losses and are desperate for a win.

“Same as Richard, I’m coming off a loss. I’m looking for a big win and to stay among the top names in the division,” said Pedraza.

In his last outing, Pedraza lost a unanimous decision loss to Jose Carlos Ramirez. All three judges scored the fight 116-112. Look for an uptick in Pedraza’s activity in the ring.

“I believe I need to be more active, to be more offensive in this fight.”

That could be what Commey needs to land his own fight changing punches after losing to the master tactician, Vasiliy Lomachenko.

“I wasn’t very active going into that fight. I stayed away for too long, and I feel like I was rusty. It is what it is. It happened. We share the same opponent twice {Lomachenko and Ray Beltran}. It’s a good fight and I’m looking forward to it.”

The loss to Lomachenko was Commey’s 2nd loss in his last three fights. He had a Jackson Marinez sandwiched in between his losses to Teofimo Lopez and Lomachenko.

Like Pedraza, Commey feels like he needs a win to get himself back in the conversation for marketable fights.

“It’s very important because I lost my last fight in December. It’s an opportunity to get back to winning ways, and this is my first fight at 140. I just want to announce myself.”

Odds:

Jose Pedraza (-250)
Richard Commey (+220)
