The Los Angeles Lakers have gone all-in with LeBron James.
The purple-and-gold announced that they’ve signed James to a two year, $97.1M extension. The extension includes a 15% trade kicker.
James wasn’t eligible to get a no-trade clause because it is an extension but he’s not eligible to be traded this season because the second year of his extension exceeds a 5% raise.
With James in the fold, eyes will be on the Lakers front office and can they find a deal for Russell Westbrook? All parties involved are saying the right things but there is still speculation that the Lakers would like to move on from Westbrook and his contract.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Lakers could have over $20 million in salary-cap space in the 2023 offseason and would have the ability to sign a third max contract player in the 2024 offseason.
