The Open Day 1: Rory’s Brilliance

Rory McIlroy didn’t end the first round of The Open as the leader but he was definitely the story.

The four-time major champion was brilliant in his 6-under, 66 round. The only blemish on his card was a bogey on 13. That was easily forgettable because of his seven birdies.

Cameron Young Tops Leaderboard

Cameron Young had a clean card on his way to an 8-under 64 and the lead after the first round.

“Any time you set foot on the first tee or 18th green or anywhere, there’s just no hiding how special of a place it is,” Young said. “And it’s certainly been a goal to get to an Open Championship. And for my first one to be here is a little bit extra special for me.”
