It’s “major week” in golf but the PGA Championship doesn’t get the hype it deserves. Most would put it as the 4th major but it’s much more than that.
With that being said, most of the big names are there including Tiger Woods. Once again, there’s been a lot of hype about Woods and his health coming into the tournament. We will see if his body will hold up.
There will be a sense of oddity without the defending champion, Phil Mickelson, being there.
Without further ado… here are my best bets.
Top 5 Finish:
There’s no shock here who I like the most. Rory McIlroy (+300) and Justin Thomas (+300). If you believe some of the hype, you might want to take a look at Tiger Woods for Top 5 (+1200) or Top 10 (+600)
Round 1 Tiger Woods Specials:
To make 4 or more birdies/eagles (-135): I’m not a big fan of this one. Woods will have a mix of birdies and bogeys in the first round but I don’t see him getting an eagle in the round. That could be the difference.
To shoot 69 or lower (+100): Tough one here. Could Tiger shoot a 68 here? Absolutely. The big worry for Tiger is the weekend. Friday should be his best round. He’ll have a look at the course and some post round work. Though he says he’s more prepared than he was at The Masters, there’s still some question if his body can hold up for four rounds.
To birdie his opening hole (Par 4 10th) (+400): Oye. I would stay away from this with all my might. It sets up as a Par or Bogey hole for Woods.
To make an eagle (+1000): I’ve already given away my answer here. I don’t see Woods getting an eagle in the first round. I’m not sure he’ll get one for the tournament. Definitely a “no” for me.
Bogey free (+2000): I wouldn’t bet this one with my worst enemy’s money. Not only with Woods have a bogey, he’ll have multiple.
I’m bullish on McIlroy this week so a long shot bet that caught my eye was Rahm and McIlory both to finish in the top 10 at +475
