Maryland Basketball: Young transfers to Maryland

DMV native, Jahmir Young has transferred from Charlotte to Maryland.

Young played for DeMatha and AAU powerhouse, Team Takeover.

“First, I want to thank Charlotte for these past three years. I picked Maryland because it is a chance for me to come back home and to do something special,” Young said. “I am excited to play under Coach Willard and his staff. To come home and to be able to do something special while being close to my family is something I couldn’t pass up.”

During his junior year at Charlotte, Young racked up accolades including

• First Team All-Conference USA
• First Team NABC All-District 11
• Team MVP
• Conference USA Player of the Week (12/27/21).
• Was the only player in Conference USA to score in double-figures and play in every game for his team this season.

“We are thrilled to welcome Jahmir home!,” said Willard. “He has been one of the most dynamic players in the country over the last few years. We are excited to welcome him to our family. He is a terrific scorer with a great basketball IQ. He’s a leader on the court who will be a major addition for us this coming season. It means a lot that he’s coming home after a great career at DeMatha and with Team Takeover.”
