Georgetown Basketball: Big East recognition

The Georgetown Men’s basketball program had two players receive recognition from the Big East

Aminu Mohammed was named to the Big East All-Freshman team and Donald Carey received the Big East Sportsmanship award.

Mohammed was a unanimous pick to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team. He was named Big East Freshman of the Week twice.

Mohammed averaged 13.8 ppg (12th BE), 8.1 rpg (3rd BE) and 1.7 spg (5th BE) during the regular season and 13.3 ppg and 7.7 rpg in BIG EAST action. His 8.1 rpg ranks 10th among all NCAA freshmen and first among league freshmen.

Carey set career highs with points per game (13.6). He shot 39.5% from the three point line and 90.9% from the free throw line.

Georgetown faces Seton Hall in the first round of the Big East tournament.
