Maryland Basketball: Nebraska Preview

Maryland comes into their game with Nebraska trying to break a five-game losing streak.

During the streak, the Terps (11-14, 3-11 Big Ten) have lost them in every imaginable way possible.

There’s the home loss to Iowa where the Hawkeyes blew out the Terps from jump.

Then there’s the two close losses. One at home against Michigan State and a last second road loss at Purdue.

“We just have to do a better job of making sure we find a way to win the game down the stretch,” said head coach Danny Manning. “The type of effort we play at Purdue and these other games are what we need on a nightly basis.”

The trip to Lincoln should be a little friendlier than other trips in the Big Ten.

The Huskers (7-18, 1-13 Big Ten) have lost 11 of their last 12. The only win during the dubious streak was a 78-65 win over Minnesota.

In a perfect world, the Terps don’t want to be in the bottom four. That would allow them to avoid playing on the first day of the Big Ten tournament.

Currently Maryland is in the bottom four. The Terps are two games behind Penn State. The Nittany Lions are the lowest team not in the bottom four. The two teams will square off on Febuary 21st in College Park.
