NBA: Free Dame

The Portland Trail Blazers kicked off the march to the Trade Deadline by trading Norman Powell and Robert Covington for Eric Bledsoe and Keon Johnson and forward Justise Winslow.

It was the latest the move by Portland that makes you wonder if they have a clue what they’re doing.

There’s only one thing left to do… free Dame.

Damian Lillard has spent his career pledging to never leave Portland. He didn’t want to be one of those players that jumps to another city to team with another player(s) to win a ring.

Here’s the problem. If you stand on that rock, you need to be attractive enough of a teammate to have guys come to your city. We saw that in Milwaukee with Giannis Antetokounmpo. Despite the market size, players wanted to play with Giannis and the Bucks threw all of their assets to make it happen. It all paid off.

Unfortunately, for Dame that’s not the case in Portland. How can it be? The front office has yet to get it right with Dame there.

Currently, the Trail Blazers are 10th in the Western Conference. They are destined for the play-in game… PLAY-IN GAME.

The only thing left to do is to give Dame the same courtesy he gave to the organization… be loyal enough to let go.

Trade Dame to a contender. Give him the same chances that he gave Portland (time and time again). He deserves it.
